In this program, I have taken a wide range of courses to expand my understanding of education and educational leadership. Some of these courses include Multicultural Education, School Policy & Finance, Adult Career Development, and Educational Inquiry, among others.
Bachelor of Arts
Secondary English and English as a Second Language
As a part of my undergraduate coursework, I explored how to engage with literature on a deep level, including analyzing texts through literary theories, in order to be able to teach literature at the secondary level. I also learned concepts of language development as part of teaching English as a Second Language. I had a diverse set of experiences in public school districts such as East Lansing, Bath, Waverly, and Lansing.

English Language Arts Teacher
As an ELA teacher at Oxford High school, I plan and implement lessons for the ELA 10th and 11th grade classes. In addition, I work with colleagues to develop and implement formative and summative assessments that align across sections of the same course.
I also work with my department to align lessons with important International Baccalaureate (IB) and Michigan Common Core standards. By doing so, we ensure that at each grade level, students are practicing and working towards mastery of important content-based skills necessary to progress through the curriculum.
English Teacher
In this role, I planned and taught courses in MYP Language & Literature 9, AP Language & Composition, Language & British Literature, and Public Speaking. I also developed curriculum which offered students differentiated instruction and aligned with the IB-MYP curriculum, AP curriculum, and Michigan Common Core standards
I also partnered with my colleagues in re-designing the 9th grade MYP curriculum to integrate the honors and traditional sections, which streamlined the course and created a more diverse and differentiated curriculum to reach all levels of learners and provide ample opportunity for academic growth.

As a WorldStrides teacher leader, I coordinate and chaperone international trips for students. As the teacher leader, I also advertise the trip throughout the school community to help enroll participants. In this leadership role, I work closely with representatives from WorldStrides to organize, plan, and execute trip details and to ensure the trips are beneficial and purposeful educational experiences for all student participants.
"Cultural Proficiency Unconference" Conference Presenter
As a presenter at the 2020 "Cultural Proficiency Unconference" I presented virtually to attendees. The presentation covered how to use restorative practices in the classroom, focusing on proactive and responsive strategies to make the classroom a safe and welcoming environment for all students. The presentation also focused on providing effective strategies to educators to help reduce the frequency and disparities of minority students receiving punitive punishments in order to create more equitable learning environments.
Diversity Committee Member
As a member of this committee, I work to help promote diversity within Notre Dame Preparatory. The committee meets regularly to discuss methods of creating and supporting a diverse and inclusive environment for the school community.
Diversity, Inclusion, & International Mindedness PLC Leader
As the leader of this PLC cohort, I focused on training teachers in diversity across the elementary, middle, and high school levels. We used an action learning model to develop sustainable methods of diversity incorporation into individual classroom and school-wide environments.

Debate Team Coach
As a coach of the debate team, I held weekly meetings to teach students about Public Forum and Congressional debate. I also organized and hosted tournaments, such as the Big Questions Debate tournament, to broaden the scope of debate opportunities in the school.
Head JV Girls' Golf Coach
As the head coach of the JV girls’ golf team, I created and manage a competition schedule, designed and held daily practices to improve golf skills, and attended and coach student athletes in matches and tournaments. To help students develop, I focused on exercises that helped participants practice and refine their game, from the basics to more advanced skills.
Extended Essay Supervisor
As an advisor for the IB Extended Essay and MYP Personal Project I worked to guide students in developing research questions, completing research, and creating their final product per the IB and MYP requirements. As a supervisor, I met with students in the off-hours to check in on their progress and help them craft their extended essay.
