Welcome to my portfolio website. My name is Julie Carman. I grew up in the metro-Detroit area and still live here today with my husband and our two cats, in Royal Oak.

I met my husband during my first teaching job at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac, MI. We quickly figured out that we had mutual friends in college and had tangentially hung out a few times, but we never formally met each other! We were married in July of 2017, and moved to Royal Oak from Ferndale after buying our first home in February of 2018.

I attended Michigan State University for my undergraduate degree in English, and completed my student teaching and graduate certification through MSU in 2014 in English and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages for Secondary Education. I loved my undergraduate and student-teaching experiences so much that I knew that I had to attend MSU for my graduate education.

Throughout this website, you will be able to find more about my experiences as a graduate student in the Master of Arts of Education program at MSU, but this page is dedicated to help you get to know me a bit more personally.
